edit collection content problems

Postby sandl » Wed Jun 23, 2010 9:45 am

The addition of special characters in the text is a nice feature. However, there is a problem - it does not retain the spacing. We enter something on three lines, a return at the end of each line. Enter and it displays in the format we entered it.
However when we come back and edit for example to correct a misspelled word, any returns are automatically deleted. All the description ends up being one big block of text. Not good. Please retain spacing.

#2 What is the big blue box on the right side that covers everything up? It says, Click on the question mark icons or select fields to receive help. However, there are no question mark icons and it just gets in the way of looking at the items on the screen.

#3 Browse / General / Userfields - these three items are listed in a column at the top of the screen on the left. What are they for? I think they are supposed to be tabs, but they don't display that way.

#4 Error: This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below. <archonresponse error="false">
<message>Collection Content Database Updated Successfully.</message>
<id>23426</id>
<suppressredirect>false</suppressredirect>
</archonresponse>
Back on the general update part of the system, the updated successful message is successful. But here, we get this error every time we update anything. The only way to move off this screen is using the Back arrow at the top of the screen.

We are aware of this problem and it will be fixed in the upcoming 3.11 release.

All of these, along with the 20+ seconds it takes to load the content manager looks like a server configuration issue. I'm not sure if there's a connection limit with IIS or something similar to that, but AJAX applications normally should allow at least 2 per user. Maybe your server is only allowing one? Alternatively, would it be possible to migrate Archon to an Apache server?

At Southern IL Univ. Carbondale we're getting the same #4 error message Sandl mentions here. Has a solution been found by any chance?
Thanks!

What version of Archon are you running? Also, what browser are you using?

Can you try adding a dummy container that only has the Physical Container checked and not the Intellectual Level in the Level/Container Manager?

Okay, good. The fix for that is in version 3.13. Or alternatively, you can keep that dummy level there until you upgrade.
