Microsoft SQL to MySQL

Postby awallace » Tue Dec 20, 2011 4:45 pm

Hello all,
We are currently running Archon 2.21 on a WIMP system. I have been asked to explore the option of moving everything from the WIMP using Microsoft SQL to a LAMP using MySQL. So my questions to the forum are:

Can it be done successfully?

Has anyone done this? If yes, would you be willing to share your experience with our IT department?

Is there a walkthrough?

Thanks,
Andy

Try using this for the database:
http://www.codeproject.com/KB/database/ ... mssql.aspx

Please let us know how it works, because a lot of users may want to do the same thing.

You should already have your LAMP system setup when you want to move the data over. Then you can put the lastest archon into your apache www directory (or wherever it goes) making sure that packages/core/install.php is removed, and it should work fine.

One thing you need to make sure of, though, is to maintain the AUTO_INCREMENT numbers and the numbers in the ID fields. Or else your relationships will get all messed up.
